The Pecten Golf club held its second outing of the year to Kirriemuir. The morning’s Dresser Atlas Trophy was won by Russell McDonald.
In the afternoon the annual match between the Captain and the Vice Captain was played. This year the two teams were selected on age with the split being November 1966. With Captain taking the older members and the Vice Captain the younger ones.
The top 5 stableford scores from each team were taken and in the end it was a tie* 170 pts each.
*It should be noted that the Vice Captain is a very nice person, he allowed a player who had just gained his handicap to join the Captain’s team, Graham Fyfe (who won the afternoon Stableford), he allowed the Captain’s score not to count and he agreed to it being a tie. If the Captain’s score had counted the Vice Captain’s team would have won 170-169. Hats off to our Vice Captain, Alex Rhodes,
“Still a tie’s a tie” said Bruce Gardner, who is not as nice.
Our organiser James was feeling somewhat deflated before he even started, as his run-flats picked up a nail about a mile before the Golf Club. Got the puncture sorted, but also left him a 50mph journey to get home 🙁
